Hannah Johnston

HannahJohnstonI’ve been enamored with the natural world ever since I was old enough to watch the Animal Planet. When I was younger, I dreamed of working as a zoologist and animal caretaker on the African safari, but as I got older I understood that If I wanted to protect the delicate ecosystems I had come to love so much, I needed to do something with a much larger impact on the world. So,I started my journey here at IUPUI in the fall of 2015 as an Environmental Science major, and quickly discovered my love for Geology during my sedimentology class. I love geology because it allows me to have a better understanding of the Earth’s systems and how they all intertwine to affect everything from the weather,to the economy, to the quality of life on this planet. In the lab so far, I have been involved in prepping and running samples for multiple grain size analysis projects. I have assisted in photographing, describing, and categorizing samples from  Antarctica, as well as assisting with miscellaneous office tasks.”
