Your IU home in Washington, DC
If you need a place to work while in the Washington, DC area, the Capital Campus provides the perfect solution. Flex office spaces are equipped with a desk and Wi-Fi access. You can access the IU Secure network with your university passphrase. If you don’t have one, you can access IU Guest Wi-Fi. Limited printer access is also available.
Our spaces can be used for a wide variety of events, including meetings, classes, conferences, dinners, and receptions.
First Floor
The first-floor, 1800 square foot multipurpose space is ideal for most events, featuring state-of-the-art audiovisual capabilities and movable furniture. Adjacent to the multipurpose space is a storage room that can function as catering set-up space, a staff room, or temporary storage. An adjoining entry area offers additional reception or registration space.
The room can be arranged for the following needs:
- Boardroom
- The tables can be configured into a rectangle that will seat 32 guests with 12 around the room in overflow seating.
- Reception
- The multipurpose room accommodate a standing reception for 150 guests.
- Classroom
- The tables can be configured in a classroom style and can accommodate 68 guests.
- Presentation or Panel
- The tables can be removed from the room, and additional chairs can be provided to accommodate 129 guests for a presentation or panel.
- Lunch, Dinner, or Seminar
- The rectangular multipurpose room tables can be arranged in a variety of ways to accommodate your group, or you can rent round tables from a caterer to seat 80 guests.
The first floor also features two conference rooms. The medium conference room can seat up to 8 and is AV capable, while the small conference room seats 4 and does not have AV capacity.
Second Floor
The second floor is comprised of four classrooms.
- Classroom 200: 375 sq. feet with a table that seats eight. No AV capacity.
- Classroom 203: 628 sq. feet with tables and chairs on wheels. Capacity for 16 in classroom style arrangement. No AV capacity.
- Classroom 205: 1355 sq. feet with tables and chairs on wheels. Capacity for 42 in classroom style arrangement. No AV capacity.
- Classroom 206: 1197 square feet with fixed tables. Capacity for 42. Full AV capacity.
Eighth Floor
The eight floor’s large conference room can seat up to 22 and does not have AV capacity.
Catering and accommodations
The Capital Campus is located in the heart of Washington, DC in the Dupont Circle neighborhood, which makes finding catering and accommodations simple. The following recommended catering options and hotels are nearby and frequently chosen by groups hosting events. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Molly Connor, Director of Federal Relations.
You are welcome to serve food and alcohol at your event, but you’ll need to make your own arrangements and pay service providers directly.
St. Germain Catering
- St. Germain is a well-known, full-service caterer in Washington, DC that can provide food, set ups, and staff for your events. Our contact is Carrie Westbrook who can be reached at carrie@stgermaincatering.com.
Ridgewells Catering
- Ridgewells is a well-known, full-service caterer that can provide anything you need, including event planning services. Our contact is Grace Duthe. You can contact her by phone at 301-907-3745.
W. Millar & Co.
- W. Millar & Co. is located a few blocks from the Willard Building and caters exclusively in the downtown DC area. They can provide simple fare with 24-hour notice or full-service catering for events with a longer lead time. Our contact is Roxanne Rozmus at 202-387-2216.
Tatte Bakery & Cafe
- Tatte Bakery and Cafe is located one block from our building. They can provide sandwiches, salads, snacks, and baked goods for delivery or pick up.
Pizza
- Bozzelli’s Vermont Ave.
- Wiseguy Dupont
- The Jefferson —This hotel is a five-minute walk from the IU Capital Campus.
- Canopy by Hilton Embassy Row – This hotel is across the street from the IU Capital Campus.
