With a primary mission to support and expand scholarship on the pan-Asian region, the Institute seeks to develop further collaborative research across the disciplines. To this end, the Institute can facilitate communication and collaboration between scholars on shared research interests in addition to providing financial support for faculty exchanges as well as fiscal and administrative support for conferences, workshops, and symposia.

- Paleoclimate History of Papua New Guinea
- War and Peace in Asia
- Philanthropy and Civil Society in Asia
- Security Issues and the Middle East
